Injuries
In May 2019 he tore the Achilles tendon in his right leg and was unable to compete at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. (Instagram profile, 28 May 2019)
In 2017 he was diagnosed with two herniated discs while he was living and training in Japan. The pain went from his lower back to his toes and he was unable to walk, run or even sit without pain. Later that year he tore the meniscus in his right knee, which had to be operated on. (nacion.com, 20 Jul 2018)

He took up gymnastics at age five.
Reason for taking up the sport
A coach suggested he should continue doing gymnastics after watching him at a pre-school practice. His parents took him to the national gymnasium where coach Carlos Carbonell saw him and decided to train him.
