He took up the sport at age six at the GD Osijek Zito club in Croatia.

Reason for taking up the sport

Coaches from the GD Osijek Zito club came to his primary school and invited the students to try the sport. "When I saw a gymnastic pit, full of sponge in which you could jump and nothing bad would happen to you, I just fell in love. Later I showed that I was quite talented in it."
