Start sporting career
She began rhythmic gymnastics in 2008. "It's my passion and one of my biggest loves in life."
Reason for taking up the sport
Her father encouraged her to take up the sport. "I love the elegance, the expression to the music, the rhythm, everything. Sports builds character. Since I was little, I would spend moments thinking, 'How can I be better than yesterday's training?'"
Ambitions
To compete at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China, and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Outside of sport, she aspires to work as a model in the fashion industry. (sundayobserver.lk, 06 Nov 2022, 14 Aug 2022)

Philosophy / Motto
"I hope that people are inspired by me. My inspiration comes from everywhere. Celebrities on the red carpet, one day from gymnasts, from the person I met in the elevator. Every day it can be different. You pick up inspiration from everywhere. This is how you are going to mould yourself by taking little pieces from your journey in life rather than to copy someone's life." (sundayobserver.lk, 06 Nov 2022)
Additional information
REPRESENTING SRI LANKA
In January 2017 she decided to switch from competing for Canada to representing Sri Lanka. "Sri Lanka is my parents' home country. They have given me this sport, and I'm giving back to them, to the country." (sundaytimes.lk, 29 Jan 2017; ceylontoday.lk, 14 Jan 2017)
OTHER ACTIVITIES
She has served as a goodwill ambassador for the A Quint Ondaatje Foundation, which supports underprivileged communities in Sri Lanka. In 2021 she represented Sri Lanka in the Miss Grand International beauty pageant in Bangkok, Thailand, and in 2022 she was crowned Miss Asia Canada. "Pageantry, for me, was such a different endeavour compared to [being] a sportsperson. It really pushed me and kicked my ass to get out of my comfort zone and think beyond my circle of knowledge and experiences. I want to be a model. I want to be on the cover of fashion magazines, walk in fashion weeks, go to Miss Universe, be crowned Miss Universe. These are all in the future."
