The FIG Executive Committee (EC) has assigned the 2017 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships and World Age Group Competitions to the Bulgarian Gymnastics Association. Competition at the World Championships will be held in the city of Sofia November 5-8, 2017.

The 2018 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships have been allocated to the Bulgarian Gymnastics Association. Competition will take place September 10-16, 2018, also in the city of Sofia.

The 2018 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships and World Age Group Competitions go to the Royal Belgian Gymnastics Federation. The World Championships will be held in the city of Antwerp April 5-8, 2018.

The EC has unanimously decided to propose the provisional affiliation of the Cameroon Gymnastics Federation to the FIG Council in May 2016.

The EC has finalised the principles of the new Calendar and Olympic Qualification System for the 2017-2020 Olympic Cycle. The detailed Rules and Regulations will be prepared and discussed at the EC meeting in February 2016 and proposed to the FIG Council for validation in May 2016.

The Rules for the Meritorious Federations for 2016 have been updated. Points were added for Federations that organise World Cup and Challenge Cup events and deducted for federations that do not adhere to the FIG’s Anti Doping Rules and obligations of organising doping controls at major FIG events.

Revisions to the jackpot / prize money system pertaining to the Rules of the 2016 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series have been decided. The 2016 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Rules have been revised accordingly.

The EC has unanimously approved adding additional Rhythmic World Cup and Artistic World Challenge Cup competitions to the 2016 calendar for federations which had bid to host World Cup events but were not initially accepted. This will allow for better evaluation of all potential organisers of 2020 Olympic qualification World Cup events. A final ruling on this matter was given by the Presidential Commission, which unanimously decided to assign the following additional competitions:

  • Lisbon (POR), March 17-20, 2016 and Tashkent (UZB), May 13-15, 2016 to the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup Series;
  • Mersin (TUR), July 1-3, 2016 and Szombathely (HUN), October 7-9, 2016 to the Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup Series.

The General Judges Rules, including a new education system for judges and organisation of Intercontinental and International judging courses, have been approved. Decisions concerning the judges awards, directives and course organisations will be developed for final approval by the EC in February 2016. Details and bid procedure will be decided in May 2016.

The EC has unanimously decided on the selection criteria that will be used to nominate judges who will officiate at the Test Event (second Olympic qualification) in April 2016 and at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The Technical Committee Presidents presented their first drafts of their respective codes of points for the 2017-2020 cycle to the CE. Most drafts have been sent for review and comment to member federations, and final versions of all will be prepared for approval by the EC in May 2016.

Due to the date change of the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires to October 1-12, 2018 by the IOC, and given the already assigned 2018 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Doha (QAT) will be held October 25-November 3, 2018, the EC has unanimously exceptionally decided to fix the dates of the 2018 FIG Congress for November 28-December 1, 2018. The 2018 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships and World Age Group Competitions will be held November 10-24, 2018
