Reason for taking up the sport
He took up gymnastics as he thought it looked like a fun activity. "I realised that I trained to go to competitions, not to just play. I wanted to keep doing gymnastics. I remember my second grade teacher Mrs. Marinaki was horrified with my hands. She constantly saw me with bloody hands, calluses, peeling all year round. She felt sorry for me and asked me not to write. It was unprecedented for her, but for me it was normal." (athletestories.gr, 05 Oct 2019)
Most memorable sporting achievement
Winning gold in the all-around competition at the 2017 National Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece. (patrasevents.gr, 12 Mar 2017)

CIRCUS PLANS
He originally planned to join the Cirque du Soleil circus company after completing his military service in Greece. "Cirque Du Soleil was a wish I had in 2012 when I was still living in Patras. It was something I had been discussing with my former coach and I was crazy about the idea, because it was related to artistic gymnastics. When I decided to do the casting, I learned that I had to join the army. Moving to Athens and joining the national team did not exist in my mind then because there was no financial comfort to leave my home. When I joined the army and came to Athens, the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation gave me a room in Agios Kosmas. A short time later, after I finished my service with the army, I joined the men's national team [in 2013] and started my journey in gymnastics. Since then I have 'stuck' with gymnastics again and I have given up the idea of Cirque Du Soleil." (campeones.gr, 27 May 2020; athletestories.gr, 05 Oct 2019)
