Additional information
General
EARLY DAYS
From age nine to 13 she lived with her mother in Brisbane, QLD, Australia, which was about an hour's drive away from the family home in the Gold Coast. She made the move in order to train regularly with coaches Olga Beloousov and Sasha Beloousov. "For four years my mum and I lived apart from my father and my brother but everyone understood. It was hard. Every Saturday after training mum and I would pack up the car and drive back to the Gold Coast for the weekend. Then, on Sunday night we would pack up again and head back to Brisbane ready for training on the Monday morning. I loved having my dad and brother around, but those are some of the sacrifices you have to make. They gave me every opportunity and I wouldn't be here without them so I'm very thankful." (olympics.com.au, 24 Feb 2020; Brisbane News Magazine, 28 Jul 2017)

HERITAGE
She was excited to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo because she has Japanese heritage on her mother's side. "My grandfather [who lives in Japan] has been there for me since day one and he is just so full of wisdom. He has such a soothing presence and whenever I am falling apart, I just talk to him and he makes it better. He tells me to just keep going, one foot in front of the other, and just to go at my own pace." (Sporting News Australia YouTube channel, 11 Aug 2021; olympics.com.au, 24 Feb 2020)

FAVOURITE APPARATUS
Her favourite discipline is the floor exercise. "I do love all of them, but I love competing on the floor. I love just tumbling, just smiling, really performing for the crowd." (Sporting News Australia YouTube channel, 11 Aug 2021)
