Reason for taking up the sport
His school's headmistress noticed that he had a gift for gymnastics and encouraged his parents to register him at the Chassieu club. "I started gymnastics young, at seven. Very quickly I showed ability on the pommel horse. Without any more training than in other disciplines, I was getting good results on the pommel so I naturally oriented myself towards the discipline, but without forgetting other disciplines or trying to be a specialist."
