Additional information
ALMOST QUITTING
As a teenager she considered giving up the sport after the gym she trained at closed down, and she had to start travelling further to attend her sessions. "When I was 14 my gym in Istanbul closed, and I had to train three hours away. I found the long journey very stressful, I kept getting ill and felt very pressured psychologically. I actually quit for a week. Mehmet Baykan, the sports minister in Turkey, helped me a lot opening a gym in Istanbul within a week with all brand new apparatus. I resumed training straight away."
