WELCOME

BY DR. LUO CHAOYI, PRESIDENT OF
THE CHINESE
GYMNASTICS ASSOCIATION

In early April, the 25th Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships will be held in Putian, Fujian Province, China. We would like to express our thanks to the FIG for giving us the honour of hosting one of the great competitions of Gymnastics, with appreciation for trusting the Chinese Gymnastics Federation with an event of this magnitude.

As an active affiliated member of the FIG, we shall do our part to contribute to the Gymnastics world and sincerely hope to promote mutual understanding, friendship and exchange among our Gymnastics colleagues. We hope this will aid further development in the sport and add to the FIG’s lustre. We are proud to have your confidence, and of being able to put the finishing touches on an organisation worthy of the FIG, so as to offer the best possible conditions for participants.

We are looking forward to meeting all FIG authorities, gymnasts, coaches and judges as well as supporters and guests from all over the world at this gathering in Putian in the city’s best season: Spring.

CHINA AIMS TO CHARM AT ACRO WORLDS

Twenty-two years after the 1994 Beijing Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, the People’s Republic of China is again welcoming the world’s top Acrobatic gymnasts, with best-on-the-planet status on the line.

The 2016 Acro Worlds will be held at the Putian Sports Complex Gymnasium in the metropolis of Putian City in China’s Fujian province, midway between Hong Kong and Shanghai. World titles will be up for grabs in all five disciplines of Acro: Men’s and Women’s Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Men’s and Women’s Groups.

Acrobatic Gymnastics enjoys great popularity in China, notably due to the spectacular pyramids made famous by the nation’s four-person Men’s teams. China has won the world title in Men’s Group from the past two World Championships, held in Levallois (FRA) in 2014 and Lake Buena Vista (USA) in 2012, as well as the gold medal from the 2013 World Games in Cali (COL).
