PREVIEW: 31st TRAMPOLINE GYMNASTICS
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

BY FLEMMING KNUDSEN,
PRESIDENT DANISH GYMNASTICS AND LOC PRESIDENT

In hosting the 31st World Trampoline Gymnastics Championships during the last week of November, the Danish Gymnastics Federation is continuing its tradition of organising international Gymnastics events in Denmark.

After the 2001 World Trampoline Championships, the 2008 European Championships and FIG World Cups in 2011 and 2013, the 2015 Worlds mark the fifth time in a generation that international Trampoline, Double Mini-trampoline and Tumbling athletes will be competing in Odense. Once again we are ready to welcome the Gymnastics world to Denmark.

In cooperation with our partners Sport Event Denmark and Development Funen / Sport Event Fyn, the Organising Committee has worked intensely to present a high level Gymnastics event for competitors, officials and supporters.

Experienced staff from previous events and our enthusiastic volunteers ensure that anyone who comes to Odense for the competition will  enjoy a fantastic experience. We can’t wait to see you at the World Championships and the World Age Group Competitions the week afterwards.

TRAMPOLINE RETURNS TO ODENSE

After a successful FIG World Cup in 2013, which served as rehearsal for this year’s World showpiece, Odense (DEN) is gearing up for the 31st Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships and the 24th World Age Group Competitions. It is the second time Denmark’s third-largest city will host the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics Worlds, following a memorable 2001 edition.

Denmark is not only experienced in hosting international Trampoline and Tumbling events; the country has also produced a number of medallists on world stage. In 1990, the Danish Men’s Team won World bronze in Essen, followed by silver in Men’s Synchronised Trampoline in 1992. More than 20 years passed before Denmark’s most successful Trampoline gymnast, two-time Olympian Peter Jensen and his partner Christian Andersen broke through with bronze medals at both the 2013 World Games and World Championships.

With strong showings at the 2011 and 2013 World Championships and peppered with new talent, the Danish Men’s Tumbling Team, led by 2013 FIG World Cup series winner Anders Wesch is in a good position to impress the local audience – and the judges – in Odense this autumn.
