As the Assembly convened, outgoing President, Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA) announced that he will not be running for a new mandate at the close of this cycle in 2016;
The 2012 – 2013 accounts and the revised quadrennial budget were approved;
The Assembly accepted ten new national federations: Afghanistan (AFG), Bosnia-Herzegovina (BIH), Central African Republic (associated member - CAF), Caymen Islands (CAY), Mauritius (MRI), Nicaragua (NCA), Sudan (SUD), Uganda (UGA), Zambia (ZAM) and Kosovo (KOS).
The federation of Botswana (BOT) was excluded for having failed repeatedly to meet its statutory obligations;
The 81st Congress and electoral General Assembly in 2016 will be organised by the Japan Gymnastics Association (JGA), Tokyo;
The proposal seeking to hand the election of Technical Committee members to the Executive Committee did not receive a 2/3 majority vote, and was thrown out;
The proposal seeking to exclude presidents and secretary generals from the judges panel at Olympic Games, World Championships, Continental Championships and World Cups did not receive the required 2/3 majority vote and was also thrown out;
Modifications to the Ethical Code were accepted;
At the 1st European Games in Baku (AZE) in 2015, the European Gymnastics Union (UEG) will present a new competitions programme format that alternates between Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines;
Events counting for the Olympic Test Events will be held on-site in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), April 14-24, 2016.
At the close of this 80th Congress 2014, the FIG counts a total of 142 member federations, of which 138 affiliated and 4 associated. Continental distribution is as follows: Europe 50 members; Asia 38; the Americas 28; Africa 24 and Oceania, 2.
