Dear Friends!
Gymnastics Australia is proud to host the 15th FIG Council meeting in our home city of Melbourne, Australia, in 2015.
Last year Melbourne was recognised as the world’s friendliest city and, for the fourth year in a row, received the title of the world’s most liveable city.
The city is renowned for its array of food, coffee, sports and arts, and is the gateway to Victoria’s world-class wineries and spectacular coastline.
The event will coincide with the Australian Gymnastics Championships which will be held at Melbourne’s largest sporting complex and feature the nation’s best gymnasts.
We look forward to welcoming our international guests to Melbourne in 2015.
FIG Council disembarks
Down Under
For the first time since 2001 an Oceanian country plays host to the FIG Council as the 15th decision-making meeting heads to Melbourne in 2015.
The FIG returns to the capital of the Australian state of Victoria with memories of an excellent Artistic Gymnastics World Championships held here in 2005, and this time the hosting honours belong to Jacqui Briggs-Weatherill (AUS), President of Gymnastics Australia, and FIG Council member George Tatai (AUS).
The order of the day at this Council meeting is the decision on the Olympic qualification system and the revised calendar for the 2017 – 2020 Cycle. It also falls to the Council to designate the host cities for the 2019 World Championships in Artistic and Trampoline Gymnastics.
