When she was 17 years old, she decided to retire from gymnastics after not being able to qualify for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. "I didn't qualify for Sydney and after turning 17, I needed to do other things, like studying, working, have relationships, and even though I was a gymnastics fanatic, I was decided, I retired." She returned to competition in 2011. "A friend of mine had a gym with trampolines, tumbling, and I soon started to do things and remember the past. I felt good. Also, my partner motivated me, he said I had nothing to lose." (eldeportero.cl, 31 Jan 2013)
