As the world governing body for the sport of gymnastics, the FIG is committed to demonstrating an exemplary standard of governance throughout its structure and processes.

While it is one of the oldest international sports federations, the FIG always strives for reinforcing or enhancing its rules and regulations to adapt to the challenges of the current times we live in.

In this regard, the FIG constantly explores ways to place the athletes’ safety and well-being at the centre of its decisions, to ensure transparency, to avoid any conflicts of interests and to defend the integrity of the sport.

In 2019, a step further to ensure a clearer separation of powers was taken with the establishment of the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation, as an independent, adjudicatory body. It is to the Ethics Foundation that any wrongdoing or incidents can be reported.
