BALANCING SPORT WITH STUDY
She was disappointed to be chosen as an alternate member for the German team at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, which made her re-evaluate her desire to continue the sport. "On the one hand, it is an honour to be the Olympic team alternate. Many people outside serious sports complimented me on this success. They couldn't understand why I was dissatisfied to be number six. On the other hand, to compete at the Olympics was my dream since I was five years old and I was very disappointed. But life must go on." After the disappointment of London she began studying, and found that focusing on academic life was beneficial to her sporting career. ''I now see gymnastics as a nice activity next to my studies. I only train once a day now instead of twice, but with much more intensity. It was a good choice, I am now enjoying gymnastics again.''
