NAMED ELEMENT
In 2013 he became the first Egyptian male gymnast to have an element named after him added to the Code of Points by the International Gymnastics Federation [FIG]. His element 'Zahran' was first performed by him at the 2013 World Challenge Cup in Slovenia, and later at the 2017 World Championships in Montreal, QC, Canada, and involves a front uprise and straddled cut backward to hang and has a 'C' value. EARLY DOUBTS
At age 16 he was close to quitting the sport after he faced a number of challenges. "I faced many obstacles that could have forced me to quit the sport, but I worked hard and fought to make something for myself. These obstacles included education, lack of resources, frequent change of coaches, and injuries. All gymnasts get injured frequently, and I experienced that several times."
