Injuries
In March 2023 he was involved in a car accident in Portugal alongside his teammates and coaches of the Spanish national team. A tyre on the van they were travelling in burst and caused the vehicle to flip several times. Plata was ejected from the vehicle through the windscreen and sustained a broken femur, as well as multiple injuries to his face and body. He returned to competition in August 2023. He sustained a broken vertebra in October 2020. He continued competing with the injury, and had to strengthen the area in order to avoid pain. (ara.cat, 24 Aug 2022; viladecans.cat, 01 Jul 2021)

He took up the sport at age five in Sant Boi de Llobregat, Spain.
