His mother and grandmother took him to training to keep him off the streets.

PARTNERSHIP
He teamed up with his men's pair partner Vadim Shulyar in 2008. "We were put together from childhood and there was never any thought of changing partner. It is our mutual understanding, the long time we have spent together, and of course the experience we have built up. We have a very good relationship. OCCUPATION
His studies at technical college included computation, programming, mining engineering and hydraulic fracturing. He then began working in a mine, which is a family tradition. His grandfather was a miner, and his mother has worked as a safety officer at a mine. "Working in a mine does not help in sports at all. It is a physically demanding job and [there are] a lot of harmful factors but, since our sport is not an Olympic sport, I had to look for work. At first it was hard, but over time I got used to it. Initially, at work, no one even knew that I was doing acrobatic gymnastics. I had to take time off, and then management found out that I am an athlete and at what level I am performing.
