Reason for taking up the sport
She was inspired by Dutch-born Egyptian gymnast Sherine Elzeiny, who competed at three Olympic Games from 2008 to 2016. "As a young girl I always looked up to her [Elzeiny] not only because she was an Olympian but also because she was Egyptian, and that really motivated me and made me realise that making the Olympics was something I also really wanted to achieve. Having Sherine by my side during the first times competing for Egypt and doing big competitions, I learned a lot from her." (intlgymnast.com, 28 Nov 2020)
Trainings
She trains at the SV Pax Haarlemmermeer club in Hoofddorp, Netherlands. "It's of course a bit more challenging to keep up with the national team plan since I am not there training with them, but we make sure to have good contact with them so whenever a big competition is near we can discuss the plan. Whenever we are at a competition we can really work as a team. I am really happy that, even though I don't train with them, they see me as part of the team." (intlgymnast.com, 28 Nov 2020)

Philosophy / Motto
"I hope that young gymnasts who look up to me can feel like they can also do what I do. No matter the situation, there are so many ways to achieve your goal. Just work hard and try to make every training session count. I think Egypt has a lot of young girls with amazing potential, so I really hope I can inspire those younger girls and set an example for them." (intlgymnast.com, 28 Nov 2020)

REPRESENTING EGYPT
She was born to Egyptian parents in Haarlem, Netherlands. She was a member of the Dutch junior national team, before choosing to represent Egypt at senior level from 2016 onwards. "My dad has worked all over Europe since 1990. He went back to Egypt often for family visits. He met my mum in Egypt and they decided to move to the Netherlands." (intlgymnast.com, 28 Nov 2020)
