She started as an artistic gymnast but switched to rhythmic gymnastics because her parents were worried she might injure herself. "The idea of doing some type of gymnastics made sense for me and was something I wanted to do. I always liked doing cartwheels and was very energetic. I think it [rhythmic gymnastics] was way more suitable for me. It combines athletics, artistry, and gracefulness."

She took up artistic gymnastics at age four and switched to rhythmic gymnastics at age five.
