She took up the sport at age 17 at Trafford Trampoline Club in Manchester, England. She had previously been involved in sailing between age nine and 16. "It's not really that transferable [sailing]. It's quite financially driven. I had a competitive drive in everything, not just gymnastics."
Reason for taking up the sport
"My friend wanted to go to an adult [trampoline] class, but she didn't want to go on her own and I agreed to go with her. [At first] I was awful, I was really bad. But they had a mini [double mini trampoline] that I messed around on in the background. And I ended up moving across to Dynamo [Trampoline Academy] to train mini properly because that's what I was interested in."
