Additional information
REPRESENTING THE PHILIPPINES
Born in Ridgewood, NJ, United States of America, she qualifies to compete for the Philippines through her Filipino father. "I came to the decision to represent the Philippines about a year ago [2017] when I found out that this opportunity was available to me. Because my dad was born in the Philippines, I was able to get naturalised into my citizenship. I ultimately decided that the Philippines was the country I wanted to represent because of the many opportunities it provided me with. Being on their national team has already allowed me to compete internationally and go to a world-scale competition [the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia]." (intlgymnast.com, 11 Sep 2018)

HOME SCHOOLING
Her parents decided to home-school her mid-way through the sixth grade so she could focus more on gymnastics training. "I was able to do other sports for a while, and then eventually it was just too hard to do, schedules were conflicting and my mom kind of told me I had to choose one." She follows an online curriculum and is due to graduate in 2021. She has also received a full scholarship from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, United States of America, which she has committed to attend after she completes her home-schooling.
