Start sporting career
He took up the sport in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and began competing at age six.
Reason for taking up the sport
"I think I was around four or five, I saw my sister doing some cool flips in the gymnasium. I was like, 'Mum, I want to be like Clair.' She has been a big inspiration for me. I did recreational [gymnastics] for a little bit, but I did not enjoy that. I was doing some dances and stuff, but I wanted to do more. Going up to competitive was the real deal to me."

Additional information
GYMNASTICS FIRST
He says he prioritises the sport over his studies. "I do study, I'm in university but I'm doing self-study. So, I just do it at my own pace. I only have one course at a time, not that big workload for school. For me my priority is definitely gymnastics and coaching because I think that's where I excel at. I think I sacrifice a lot of social life, I have enough social life in the gym." (Gymnastics Ontario Facebook page, 28 Feb 2021)
