In September 2021 he was appointed head of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department for Yerevan Municipality in Armenia. "My main goal is to improve the conditions in public sports schools. I want our schools to meet at least some standards and be compatible with the development of sports. If there is a desire and a goal, training and work are compatible. NAMED ELEMENT
During the 2014 World Cup in Doha, Qatar, he performed a variation of the cross exercise on rings that had not been done before. The element has since been named the 'Davtyan Cross' and included by the International Gymnastics Federation [FIG] in the list of gymnastics elements.
