She was affected by a back injury in 2021. She began to focus on beam and uneven bars during training in late 2021 as they were easier on her back. Reason for taking up the sport
Her mother took her to gymnastics lessons and she immediately liked it. At age 10 she relocated to Brescia, Italy, to train seriously.
Milestones
She was part of the team that ended Italy's 69-year-long wait for a medal in the women's team event at the world championships by winning bronze at the 2019 edition in Stuttgart, Germany. PERSONAL LOSS
Both her grandfathers died within a two-week period during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy in early 2020. “I lived a hard time when I lost my two grandfathers. I cried a lot. I couldn't even say goodbye. Grandpas Piero and Giorgio will protect me from above. But I have to go on. RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
She says she wants to fulfil her dream of competing at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, and will then likely retire from the sport due to ongoing back problems. "Health comes first. If after Paris my back problem persists and if the doctors advise me to stop. I also have doubts on continuing after so many years of hard training.
