Reason for taking up the sport
She and her twin sister Kate were signed up for a week-long gymnastics camp by their mother. "When me and my sister were younger, we would try out any sport we could, so my mum put us into gymnastics, along with [Gaelic] football, soccer, camogie [Gaelic hurling] and all the rest. [Kate] hated [gymnastics], absolutely hated it. She lasted about a month and then she ended up quitting, but I always wanted to keep doing it. I nearly didn't go back because we used to do everything together. But for some reason, I just said, 'No I want to go back to this'. And I could never get rid of it after that. I come from such a GAA [Gaelic Athletic Association] family, so it was always like camogie and Gaelic football in my house, but there was just something about gymnastics that I really, really liked."
