Her mother Teresa and her aunt Loreto also competed in the sport at an elite level. Her mother is a gymnastics coach so it was natural for Diana and her sister to take up gymnastics.

Trampolining is a popular sport in her family. Her grandfather Jose Gines and his brother Alonso were selectors for Spanish trampoline team. Her mother Teresa competed in tumbling, while her aunt Loreto competed in trampoline, and they have both worked as coaches at the Gimnastica Acrobatica Valladolid club in Spain.
