Reason for taking up the sport
"My mother sent me to the Jan Breydel Stadium [in Bruges, Belgium] for toddler gymnastics when I was three years old. Afterwards I became a member of Rust Roest gymnastics club and that's how the ball started rolling. Although I had trained for 16 hours a week, at age nine my trainer thought that I was not sufficiently motivated to become a competitive junior and senior later. During the same period I had surgery on my wrist. I then switched to trampolining, which gymnasts often do as a technical exercise."
