Start sporting career
She took up gymnastics at age five at Chesapeake Gymnastics in Easton, MD, United States of America. She did artistic gymnastics before switching to trampoline at age eight.
Reason for taking up the sport
She would climb on baby gates as an infant and up tall slides when she was a toddler, so her mother enrolled her in a recreational gymnastics class. After several years of artistic gymnastics, she was moved to trampolining by Chesapeake Gymnastics coach, Joan Dyott.
