Start sporting career
She took up gymnastics at age seven in Butuan, Philippines.
Reason for taking up the sport
Her parents enrolled her in a gymnastics club. "I was doing cartwheels everywhere and splits. They wanted me to be safe, so they enrolled me in a class and then it eventually turned into something more than that. In my opinion, what makes rhythmic gymnastics different is that in rhythmic gymnastics you are following the rhythm of the music, the whole routine is based solely on the music."
Milestones
She became the first rhythmic gymnast representing the Philippines to compete at the world championships when she participated in the 2022 edition of the tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria. (SportsDeskOnline, 15 Sep 2022; tiebreakertimes.com.ph, 15 Sep 2022)
Most memorable sporting achievement
Competing at the 2022 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, and winning bronze in the individual all-around at the 2021 South East Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam. (pep.ph, 18 Feb 2023)

TRAINING OVERSEAS
In 2017 she began training with coach Dora Vass in Hungary, and has also spent time competing on the European rhythmic gymnastics circuit. "Adjusting was hard but we got the hang of it. And the training and the facilities are so much better than what we have in the Philippines. But moving to Hungary was a mix of different emotions and feelings - being excited and nervous. She [Vass] is very good. We're lucky to have her as our coach." (philstar.com, 25 Mar 2021; news.abs-cbn.com, 15 Dec 2020; goodnewspilipinas.com, 18 Nov 2019)
