Reason for taking up the sport
She was initially involved in surfing and dancing at a young age. Someone from her surf school opened a freerunning school, so she decided to give it a try. "I wasn't a girly girl, I rather played outside running and climbing than playing with dolls. I had surfing lessons too but I was more busy throwing flips off my board than catching waves, so my surf coach told my mum I should check out a new parkour gym in the city." GROWTH SPURT
She had to adapt after she grew around 14 centimetres between 2021 and 2022. "I had a mega growth spurt last year [speaking in 2022] and I've grown 14 centimetres. That made me insecure in my flips and balance. Fortunately, I was able to participate in so many competitions in May and June 2022 that I got my level back. I feel stronger than ever, both physically and mentally." (dutchgymnastics.nl, 12 Jul 2022)
